The USS Constitution Museum is a Boston, MA national landmark. A must see for everyone visiting Boston. the Museum collects, preserves, and interprets the stories of Old Ironsides and the people associated with her. They seek to create a positive, memorable experience for all.

Objective:

In order to bring the story of our nation's oldest commissioned ship to life, the Museum needed to reevaluate its online presence. Their new site will not only enhance their current marketing efforts and appeal to a wider range of audiences but will set them up for success with their future initiatives. The new website had to be organized with an intuitive navigation that would allow visitors to be able to quickly and easily find information on exhibits, tickets, donations and upcoming events. 

Solution:

• Creating a visually engaging design: We lightened up the color scheme, provided visitors with an appealing color palette and increased white space to make reading the content easier. 
• Information Architecture: Content that had previously been buried within the old site was grouped into new categories.  Key pages were given more prominence. This reorganization will reduce the amount of time and clicks it takes a visitor to find what they are looking for on www.ussconstitutionmuseum.org.
• Wire frame and layout improvements:  Widening the site’s layout created a clean and modern design that allowed us to use more visually engaging elements. The larger photos on the homepage draw visitors further into the site and allows the museum staff to update messaging in a highly visible part of the site. Using engaging text and calls to action like “Support Us”, “Learn & Play” and “Donate” will give visitors a better feel of what the museum offers and helps direct them to pages that might have been previously skipped or ignored.
