Jonah has a host of responsibilities at USM, from being our support "guru" to helping with programming and server maintenance. He ensures that all of our web sites are kept up-to-date with the latest software, design elements and content and assists our clients with any questions or concerns that arise. He's also on the front lines in our war against SPAM, doing anything he can to keep all that unsolicited junk mail out of everyone's inboxes.
Just a moment with Jonah:
When I was six years old my father brought home our first computer; a VAX VMS system from Digital Equipment Corporation which has (we still have it) far less computing power then an average cell phone. This device, although somewhat primitive, opened my eyes to the world of computers and really brought my fascination with technology to fruition. I was able to understand the potential benefit computers can bring to businesses and individuals alike, and that inspired me to learn more and become "the computer guy." These days I don't even think to look in the phone book for a number because I know I can find it far more quickly on smartpages.com or Google.
Why does Jonah work at USM?
My favorite part of this job is finding the right solution for a problem (especially the really technical ones) and in turn making someone happy by fixing it. There's always a new challenge and it helps keep things interesting!
When not in front of a computer...
My family first began sailing about five years ago on Mallett's Bay in Colchester, Vermont and I've been hooked ever since. I love sailing because it can be either the most relaxing activity possible, or an all out battle for survival, entirely depending on the weather. Being able to sail in all weather conditions is crucial, so it's one of the few things in life that is both simple and incredibly complex. We all know well that the weather in New England is anything but stable, so this makes for a lively combination at times. After earning certifications in both daytime and overnight (longer voyage) sailing and winning a few racing trophies it's fair to say there's no turning back for me!
