Keewaydin Foundation
Objective:
The oldest, continually operating summer camp in the United States, Keewaydin has been on the shores of Lake Dunmore since 1910. Keewaydin approached Union Street Media's founder, a former camper and staffman, in the spring of 2003 to embark on the redesign and development of the Foundation's web site. The homepage of the site was redesigned in 2007.
The Keewaydin Foundation runs summer camps and wilderness trip programs for boys and girls in Vermont and Temagami, Canada. The site needed to provide a clear path for the wide variety of site users that come to it, including current & prospective parents & campers, staff members, and the vast, loyal alumni of the various camps. The ability to look up camp friends through an online database.
Solution:
- Created a design rich in photography and color, using Keewaydin's traditional look and feel, which has helped the camp complete their enrollment early in the recruiting year on a regular basis.
- Helped Keewaydin's Director of Development use the site as a tool for fundraising and collecting online donations directly through the site.
- Guided the Foundation's leadership team on how to engage the camps' alumni through Facebook.
- Empowered Keewaydin to post photos of campers and camp activities on the web site, letting parents see pictures of their children through out the summer.
- Developed a password protected alumni database for the thousands of former Keewaydin campers from Vermont to Venezuela.
- Shepherded the development of a huge photo archive that was launched in advance of Keewaydin's 100th anniversary in 2010.

Union Street Media has taken Main Street Landing's 12 year old web site and transformed it into a classy, interesting, and visually stunning site. I was at first fearful that the process would be daunting and overwhelming, but after my first meeting with the Union Street professionals, I realized this was going to be fun, creative, and inspiring, which it was. They worked closely with me to make sure that what I needed to do was clearly explained and assisted, and the entire process, at the end of the day was a rewarding and enjoyable experience. Our new web site is perfect.
